Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
Social Hour is made by WID LLC in Los Angeles, CA. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. A party lives on the host Mac and on the iPhones connected to it, on your local network.
This policy covers Social Hour for iPhone, Social Hour for Mac, Social Hour Remix and this website.
What stays on your devices
On the iPhone
- Your name, as you type it, and the last party you joined, in the app's settings.
- A random identifier created by the app, kept in the iPhone's keychain. It lets the host recognize your iPhone when it reconnects, so you keep your songs and your DJ role. It isn't linked to you or to your Apple Account.
On the host Mac
- The party: the queue, requests and votes, the names partygoers chose, their badges, the party's settings and the speakers set up for it. It's saved on the Mac so the party survives a restart.
What's shared, and with whom
- With the party, over your local network. When you join, your name, your identifier and, if you have one, your supporter badge go to the host Mac. Everyone at the party can see your name next to the songs you add or request, your badge, and who's at the party. Nothing leaves your local network this way.
- With Apple, for the music. The host Mac plays and searches Apple Music with its owner's Apple Account. Apple's Privacy Policy applies.
- With Apple and RevenueCat, for tips and memberships. Purchases are made and paid through Apple; we never see your payment details. To know which badge you own, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives the purchase details and an anonymous identifier made for the app, along with basic details such as the app version and the iPhone's system version. No name, email or contact information is sent. RevenueCat's Privacy Policy applies.
- With your speakers. The Mac sends the music to the AirPlay speakers and HEOS devices you choose, on your network.
Camera, microphone and audio
- Camera (iPhone): only to scan a party's QR code. Images are processed on the iPhone and never stored or sent.
- Microphone and audio inputs (Mac): only when you choose one of the Mac's inputs as the party's source, to play it through the speakers. Nothing is recorded or stored.
- System audio (Mac): only with AirPlay on, to send the party's music to the speakers. No other app's sound is captured, and nothing is recorded or stored.
- Local network: to find parties and connect the iPhones to the host Mac.

Your choices
You can change your name at any time, leave a party, or delete the app, which removes its settings. iOS may keep the app's random identifier in the keychain after that; it isn't linked to you. The host can quit or delete Social Hour to remove the party. Memberships are managed and cancelled in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
